How to know what you need
(This post was sent as an email to our clients and subscribers on 10/22/20.)
Hello, and welcome to our monthly Reiki Newsletter!
Since we began this spring, the Online Reiki Circle has become a sacred space of weekly solace for me, and many others who joined in. Now that we are back to our once-a-month (still online) Reiki Circle schedule, I plan to regularly send a little slice of that solace to your inbox between Zoom gatherings.
Because each moment of comfort and calm, in regular doses, adds up to greatly benefit emotional, physical, and mental health.
So in the spirit of Reiki, I invite you to take a step out of your mind and into your heart, dropping any attachment you have to words and thoughts, and try this meditation:
Breathe in...(count to 4)...Breathe out...(count to 4)...Soften your shoulders and stretch your neck.
Breathe in...(count to 4)...Breathe out...(count to 4)...Unlock your jaw.
Breathe in...(count to 4)...Breathe out...(count to 4)...Feel your feet making contact with the earth.
Breathe in...(count to 4)...Breathe out...(count to 4)...Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly.
Breathe in...(count to 4)...Breathe out...(count to 4)...Drop your awareness into your body, maybe where your hands are touching your heart and your belly, and ask yourself this question:
"What do I need in this moment?"
Ask with an open heart and an open mind. Trust that on some level you know exactly what you need. Sometimes all it takes is to slow down and listen.
Put this wisdom you have just received into action. Keep it simple. If your body needs movement, move. If your belly needs nourishing food, eat something warm. If your nervous system needs a break, turn off your phone and TV.
Remember, what you need right now might not be what you need tomorrow. As the Reiki precepts say, "Just for today, do not worry; Just for today, do not anger..." And my own addition:
Just for today, do what brings you peace in your heart. ❤️
We will be gathering for the next Online Reiki Circle on Thursday, 10/29 at 7pm, and monthly at the same time thereafter. I look forward to seeing you there!
